Fitness is Individual, Not a Universal Process

Image
Fitness is individual and not universal. That's awesome! Why? Because we're all different people with different strengths and weaknesses. When you focus on the things you can do and give your best effort, great results happen. Focus on Your Strengths Acceptance of who you are and appreciating your strengths is essential for health and fitness. I eliminate push-ups from my workout for example because they aggravate my neck injury. Instead, I work hard on chest press and it works for me. Workouts are meant to be different for all of us and that's the beauty of personal training. Not being able to do some exercises just opens the door for you to excel at what you can do. It's looking at the positive and strong part of your fitness abilities. This is a great thing, not a loss. You get my point. It's doing what works best for you and becoming your best you. Never Give Up It's important to never give up on you. Believe and know you can achieve great things. Work har...

Exercise For 30-Minutes 5 Days Per Week For Lasting Results

Image
Exercise doesn't have to be extreme to be effective. In fact, working out for at least 30-minutes 5 days per week can provide a fit body for a lifetime.  Athletes with certain goals may need to perform above the maintenance requirement, but in general, active adults can achieve great results using the 30-minute strategy. Get Fit and Healthy  Most of us want to feel good and look good naked with a simple exercise routine. This is possible without extreme workouts or lifting super heavy. If the extreme is what you enjoy, and it works for your body, go for it. I am addressing the norm demographic of everyday people who just want to get fit and be healthy.  What is Recommended? Studies have shown that 150-minutes per week of moderate aerobic activity such as brisk walking is sufficient to maintain a healthy body. It would be reduced to 75-minutes per week for vigorous exercise like running or attending an aerobics class. High-intensity interval training reduces the minutes ...

How to Move From 'I Want to Get Fit' to Actually Doing It

Image
Do you think about getting fit but procrastinate doing the work to make it happen? Good intentions somehow never springboard into action. With something as important as our health, why do we keep putting it off? The Problem  Getting fit seems to get a slam for being hard and a burden. The thought is that you must give up everything fun and tasty in life to have a fit and healthy body. This is far from the truth, but what many of you believe. These feelings cause many people to frown at even trying to get healthy. Good marketing has duped society into thinking fitness can't be achieved without buying expensive products and exercising until you throw up. Really?! Do you believe getting fit is a burden? Are you guilty of procrastinating because of false claims about getting healthy? Do you want to get fit but just seem unmotivated to actually do it? The Solution  Change your mindset. It's important to have a realistic attitude and knowledge about fitness to start making positive ...

The Grass is Greener Where You Water It

Image
We live in a society where not feeling good enough and comparison has become problematic. Fitness goals are more about looking like someone else than improving our own health. We think the grass is greener on the other side. The truth about life, health, and fitness is the grass isn't greener on the other side.  Green Up Your Own Grass What needs to change is how we're viewing the scenery. Our attention should be focused on what's going on in our own yard. True health and happiness begin when you start greening up your own grass. If your focus is always on others, how can you love who you are and make the best of what you have? It's not possible. Comparison is The Thief of Joy Did you know that  comparison is the thief of joy? True story. We will always be at different fitness levels, looks, and financial status and that's just how the world works. The important thing is to make the best of your life and what you have. Celebrate who you are at this moment, and wor...

How to Keep Going When You Lack Motivation

Image
Why is staying motivated so hard? Honestly, starting your fitness program is usually easier than sticking with it over time. This is where the resolution folks bow out after a couple of months. Are you sticking with your New Year, New You program? Cheers to starting month 4! Staying Motivated How do you stay motivated and succeed in achieving fitness goals and adopting a healthy lifestyle? It comes down to mental game and discipline. You will not always be motivated, but discipline takes over and provides the drive that keeps you going . Motivation involves a feeling whereas discipline is all about action. You will not want to eat right or workout all the time and you may even dread it. You are not alone and this happens to all of us at every fitness level. I hope this offers encouragement for you. Hang in There! The important thing is not to quit, or base your fitness program on a fleeting feeling. Discipline is what gets you to the workout and motivation kicks in once you get sta...

Relax More and Don't Stress About the Food

Image
Do you think eating healthy is a burden? Have you tried  keeping it simple and not stressing about it? Eating right turns into frustration when we worry about everything being perfect. This is unrealistic thinking because there is nothing perfect about anything. Unfortunately, for many of you, eating right has become an overwhelming chore. It's Not Complicated Healthy food intake is really not that complicated. If you focus on eating nutrient-dense foods, counting calories is often not necessary . Who needs calculations if you're consuming lots of greens, right? Eating donuts, pastries, and white bread would be an entirely different story. You get my point. Eat This Not That Eating right is simply swapping out unhealthy choices for healthy food. Instead of eating french fries, try baking a sweet potato or even white potatoes for example. It also helps to use nutrient timing where you consume something nutritious every 2 to 3 hours. Eating small meals throughout the day is sho...
